In December of 1984, theJcompany decided to leave the market and returned all program rights to theLoriginal authors. I decided to release my commercial work into the FairwareOmarket. The MS-Adventure series just dissapeared. I had always felt that thisIseries was just too good to allow it to never to be seen again. Mike hasKneither the time nor equipment necessary for the amount of disk duplicatingHrequired to establish a Fairware product. So, after much discussion andhat thisLplanning, Mike allowed me to distribute the series as Fairware for him. AnyCprofits gained from this venture will be shared by Mike and myself.H My role in this project was to convert a series of three commercial andhat thisLprograms into a Fairware program set. This involved a lot of work combiningIwhat had been three seperate packages into one. I also placed all of theNprinted documentation on disk and made the changes that were necessary to showsOhow the program would now work. The original MS-Adventure program was designedOto load directly into Extended BASIC as a DIS/FIX 80 format file. Loading timeNwas fairly long. Danny Michael helped me out by re-compiling the program intoImemory image form and providing a fast loader to load the new format intoKExtended BASIC. I wrote the Extended BASIC load program which controls theJloading of the MS-Adventure program through Extended BASIC, as well as the program intoPprinting the documentation and solution files on either the screen or a printer. ? LISTING OF THE FILES ON THE DISTRIBUTION DISK.P The disk you received should contain the following files and programs. It allows you to get software and evaluate it before purchasing it. ItPalso allows, and in fact encourages you, to make copies of the software to shareJwith other potential customers. The risk is born completely by the personocumentation. (JT)marketing the software.M I decided to go the Fairware route because I was tired of paying lots ofPmoney for software that I never really ended up using. Some programs were good, ustomers. The risk is born completely by the personocumentation. (JT)Mbut they weren't $39.95 good. After a short spell in the commercial world, IOdecided I wanted people to be able to try my software first; and then, and onlyNthen, if they found it to be useful and of value, to pay for it. I don't evencumentation. (JT)Lhave a recommended asking price. Only you can, and should, decide what thisPsoftware is worth to you. The programs included on the disk are:PCOLOR MASTER - A color code breaking game for one or two players. Try to figureM out the four colors coded in sequence from a total of 7 available colors.M Extended BASIC required, Speech Synthesizer optional, Color TV or Monitor recommended.OPETER COTTONTAIL'S EGG HUNT - Two rabbits try to be the first to find a MAGICALN egg hidden in a graphical maze. This is a real favorite with children dueL to it's extensive use of graphics, animation, and music. Extended BASIC required.ed.PCAPTURE THE INTRUDER - An intruder has penitrated a super secret base. Your jobN is to capture him for questioning. Extensive graphics and speech are usedN in this game of strategy. I was doingPextensive work with double size sprites to create the complete alphabet, as wellor $7.50 foronal.Jas Alphie the robot and his bucket. I became increasingly frustrated withNhaving to draw my characters on graph paper, convert the picture to Binary andKHex codes, and then program in the statement. Frequently, I found that theellor $7.50 foronal.Lcharacter didn't look as well on the screen as I thought it would, so it wasback to the graph paper again.P At that time there were a couple of graphic design aid programs, but all ofstatement. Frequently, I found that theellor $7.50 foronal.Lthese were limited to single size characters. Sprite Builder was written toLfill the void. Since then the program has been added to and enhanced to thepresent version 4.K The purpose of the program is to allow you, the user, to easily createal.Pdouble sized sprites. You are given lots of features to help you along the way.OThere are 21 active keys that do everything from setting the Automatic movementJof the cousor to Turning the drawing in many directions. The LOADMprogram is used to set up the system defaults, such as the current date, diskNdrives, printer descriptions, and titles. It allows you to view on the screenNor print out the extensive documentation. It also controls the loading of theother two sections.I The Checkbook Manager portion of the CBM handles all of your monthlyskNchecking data. Checks and deposits are keyed into a screen which resembles anIactual check. Inputs include Check Number, Date, Pay To, Reason, Amount,GOpen/Clear, and Budget Category. Extensive error correction and reportandles all of your monthlyskPgenerating capabilites exist which allow you to do very general or very specific searches.I The Budget Manager portion of the CBM takes over where the CheckbookKManager leaves off. You can define all 99 budget category names and set upur monthlyskKbudgets for any or all of your categories. The first wordOis a verb, and the second word is an object, such as: CLIMB TREE. The programase. screen will beogram. Mlooks at only the first three letters of the object, so you may abbreviate if you like. N For each location, the display indicates visible exits as single letters,LE(east), W(west), N(north), S(south), U(up), and D(down). To move to any of Jthese exits, simply enter the letter of the direction in which you want toKmove. For example: E will move you to the east, if there is a visible eastexit. M Most of the commands are defined in the database and may change from oneo any of Fadventure to another. However, there are four commands built into theKMS-Adventure program. These are INVentory, SAVe, REStore, and QUIt. TheseHcommands can be entered at any time during the adventure. The INVentory change from oneo any of Ncommand causes a description of the current location, exits, and objects to beprinted. N The SAVe command allows you to save the current adventure, which can thenNbe REStored should you be "killed", or should you wish to continue the game at a later time. O After you enter the SAVe command, the computer will ask you for the deviceKto which the game is to be saved. Enter "DSKn.filename", where n is a diskMdrive number containing the disk you wish to save the game on to and filenameOis any name you wish to give to the saved game. After the game has been saved,Kthe computer will display "GAME SAVED".
